GST State code list, GSTIN search, Check e-invoice status of taxpayer

A. GST State Code List

The Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) is a 15-digit unique identification number provided to a taxpayer whoever registered under the GST. The first two numeric digits of a GSTIN represents the state code.

B. GSTIN Search

Anyone can verify 15 digit GSTIN of taxpayer from GST portal. Search can be done on the basis of what information you have for the Taxpayer. On 3 (three) basis you can do search or verify taxpayer from GSTIN/UIN or by PAN.

C. Check e-invoice status of taxpayer

e-invoicing is mandatory for taxpayer from 01st October 2020 and 01st January 2021 having turnover more than INR 500 crore & INR 100 crore respectively. It means whenever you are purchasing goods you need to check whether vendor is liable for e-invoicing or not because if is liable for e-invoicing and still he is issue normal invoice then, you will not be able to claim input tax credit.
